I have started posting a series of sqlserver/MSBI interview questions asked by companies.

(1)Tell me about yourself?

      (2) There is a parameter called country with country id and country name. It is enabled for multi selection. I have     selected 3 countries from the dropdown list. Then, how will you pass this information to the stored procedures     and return the result set with 3 countries?

     (3)  What is the logic you use inside the split function?

     (4)  There is a parameter called country with country id and country name. The user can see india, Australia etc..     But, when user selects India then I want to display the country id, not the country name?

     (5)  There are two parameters called country and states respectively. I want to load the states based on the             selection of country?

     (6)  I want to display each country information in the separate excel sheets. If I have 5 country information then I       have to show those details in 5 excel sheets and name of the country is the excel sheet name. How will you     do that?

     (7)   I have a report which displays the user details based on the login user. How will you pass the login user             name to the stored procedure from the SSRS report?

     (8)   I want to display page numbers and total pages information in the SSRS report?

     (9) I want to send a report to my manager and some couple of other people every week automatically? How will       you do that?

    (10)  If the list of managers are too large and they may change in the future then how will you send a report                automatically to all those?

    (11) The user wants to restrict the export options of the report to only excel and PDF? How will you do that in           SSRS?

    (12) Two users are connected to the same database and one user is updating 50 lakh records on the table. Now,       the second user wants to select the same data without affecting the update process of the first user? What is     the query he needs to be written for selecting the data?

    (13) What is the difference between temporary tables and table variables? When to use each of them?

    (14) I have a sales table with columns product category, year and Order Amount. The data in the tables are as         follows

         Now, I want to show the columns like product category, 2011,2012,2013 and the amount as rows.

    (15) What are the best practices to write the stored procedures?

    (16) What is the toughest requirement you got till now and how you were managed to handle it technically?

    (17) How will you get the request on the performance tuning? What are the steps you take to to identify the                bottleneck and how will you resolve it?

    (18) I have a folder and sub folders those consist of excel files, flat files and sql scripts. Now, I want to load them     into sqlserver destination using SSIS?

   (19)  I have to take the data from the Oracle database and load them into excel and sqlserver destination? How         will you write the SSIS package? How many times will you fetch the data from the source database?

    (20)  How many package configurations are there in SSIS?

(   (21) I want to take the data once and perform DML operations without taking the source data again and again for      each operation? How to write a query to handle this situation?
